Chicago fashion designers
Home to over 250 designers, Chicago is a very creative, community-driven city. Since Mayor Daley’s Fashion Initiative started in 2006, the city continues to partner with businesses to create additional resources for designers to gain notoriety, while learning more about the business of fashion. As a result, many designers are choosing to stay in Chicago rather than move to New York or Los Angeles.

Macy’s Incubator - Six fashion designers moved into the new Chicago Fashion Incubator, a year-long mentorship inside Macy's State Street store. The incubator is a non-profit, set up to help fashion designers transition from school to career. In addition, Macy's has started purchasing established Chicago fashion designers' collections, rather than buying them on consignment, which is a welcome change for designers.
Chicago Fashion Foundation - A non-profit organization, providing academic scholarships to Chicago-area college students majoring in fashion, and coordinating educational programs for the Chicago fashion community. CFF is a group dedicated to developing and retaining local fashion talent in order to raise standards of the industry here.
